Anticipated record-breaking crowds can expect to be treated to a dizzying array of the very best cinema produced in the past year with more than 200 multi-genre movies from Canada and 40 foreign countries to be showcased.

The 12-day festival runs through October 4th. This major event is being held at two venues actually, the Cineplex Odeon Eau Claire Cinemas and Globe Cinema on Barclay Street and 8 Avenue SW respectively.

The Stars Come Out

This spectacular festival is replete with directors, screenplay writers, producers, and actors and best of all, great flicks!

Writer/Director extraordinaire Marc Abraham (Dawn of the Dead) will christen the event with a walk down the proverbial Red Carpet to get the party started.

Also in attendance amongst the greats will be famed Canadian film director Atom Egoyan, director of such memorable films as The Captive, Devils Knot and Exotica.

This year, Egoyan adapted Benjamin August’s work into the thrilling and poignant movie Remember, starring Christopher Plummer and Martin Landau which will be shown at the Festival this year.

Filmmakers Michelle Shephard and Patrick Reed have high hopes for their compelling Documentary Guantanamo’s Child. The film tells the true story of a young boy (Omar Khadr) convicted of terrorism at 15 years old and who spent 13 years in confinement at the infamous U. S. military prison, Guantanamo Bay in Cuba. He was released in May of 2015.

Therefore, if you are movie buff, aficionado, or just someone who wants to see some great films by some of the very best creative minds in the world of filmmaking, then you have to get yourself over to the 2015 Canadian International Film Festival.

It’s the chance of a lifetime to have access to such greats and to be able see and hear not only their movies, but the stories behind the films by the people that made them. Special appearances, question & answer sessions and a host of special events are planned throughout the week to give you a movie going experience you won’t soon forget.
