Calgary's festival season is starting up and there is no shortage of things to do in the area during the month of May.

1. Calgary International Children’s Festival

Families staying at the Regency Suites Hotel in May can bring their kids to this festival, which takes place at the Arts Commons. Its goal is to ignite children’s imaginations with four days of performances and art shows for the kids and their families. Dates: May 24 - May 27

2. Banff Yoga Festival

The Banff Yoga Festival is back for its second year after a successful first run in 2016 that saw over 500 attendees, making it the largest festival of its kind in the area. Taking place at the Fenlands Recreation Center in Banff, yogis can expect a variety of yoga classes for all skill and experience levels, raw food ‘uncooking’ classes, organic wine tastings, live music, and mountain meditations. Dates: May 26 - May 28

3. Calgary International Beerfest

The Calgary International Beerfest will take up over 20,000 square feet of the BMO Centre in 2017. This festival is the largest beer festival in Western Calgary and features more than 500 local, national, and international craft beers and cuisine from over 30 Calgary restaurants. Dates: May 5 - 6

4. Dogfest Spring Fling

Dogfest Spring Fling is a festival open to all dog breeds and sizes featuring an indoor play area for large and small dogs. Owners can bring their furry friends over to the Triwood Arena for this event, featuring vendors selling top quality dog products, including treats and high fashion. Date: May 5
