Calgary is a lively city with activities for people of all ages to enjoy. Why not start the new year off right by going out and enjoying some good company?
Whether you live in Calgary or you're just visiting for the month, here are a few fun events that are worth checking out:
Worldwide phenomenon Stomp will be performing at Alberta's Jubilee Auditorium from January 17th to 19th. Come out to see this explosive eight-member percussion group play music on everyday objects like garbage cans and brooms. Tickets start at $61.45.
The amazing Ice Magic Festival takes place in Banff, an hour and a half away from Calgary, but totally worth the drive. From January 19th to 29th, talented ice artists from around the world show off their talents in the ultimate ice carving competition. General admission is $10, children and seniors get in for $5, and toddlers get in for free.
join the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra at the Jack Singer Concert Hall on January 27th and 28th for a fun family night with DreamWorks: Animation in Concert. Look back on 20 years of Dream Works Animation footage while listening to live music from Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, and more. Ticket prices range from $0 to $80.
Short on cash this month, but love a good live performance? Every Wednesday from January 11th to 25th, ProArts will be holding a free concert at noon at the Cathedral Church. See Calgary musician John Rutherford on the 18th or Allison Lynch on the 25th.
